The two familiar faces pop onto the screen, those faces being the hosts of the ‘Talk That Talk’ podcast, of course they are Kieron Mitchell and Christina Jade, better known to TWC fans and the wrestling world as Chrysalis.
The charismatic rookie and fan favorite, Chrysalis was wearing her trademark snapback turned backwards as she has wore on every episode so far, and her t-shirts, known for making a statement, was interesting today. The shirt was black with bright pink letters across the chest reading ‘He eats meat but he won’t eat me’. Could be controversial, but it was surely a subliminal message at the guest for the day who she has been sparring with about beating in the finals of the tournament for TWC that has yet to officially begin.
Chrysalis: What’s good, world? It’s ya girl Chrys and I want to welcome you to the fourth episode of TALK THAT TALK! This is the podcast where anything and everything goes and where we never hold back. Today is gonna be crazy, and I’m not gonna lie...it could get a lil heated, but I’m gonna do my best to keep it professional. As always, I’m joined by Kieron Mitchell, ya’ll call him KJ...what’s good with you?
There was a slight shrug as Kieron was still getting himself situated behind the computer screen. Not much had changed since last week. Same hotel. Same hoodie.
Kieron Mitchell: Professional? You? Ha okay I guess we'll have to see about that.
Things were getting a little less formal as the podcast moved it's way through the weeks. Comfort was now beginning to set in.
Kieron Mitchell: Nah, but for real we have what should be a pretty exciting episode for everyone today. Time to get the back talk flowing as we're about thirty seconds away from being joined by our guest this week. So, Chrys, what do you think. You seem to be pretty excited about him. Why don't you do the honors of introducing him to the world out there.
Chrysalis: Of course, I got you.
She stares ahead, her eyes slightly darting to the side as she was reading another tab on her computer screen.
Chrysalis: Honestly, his list of accomplishments is too long to even begin to get into, but facts are facts...this guy has done a lot. Welcome Daniel Dream, aka Carnivore to the podcast, Carny, what’s good?
The screen pops up a third image, this one is the visual of the man that many see as a favorite to win the TWC tournament, Carnivore.
Carnivore: Thank you for having me, I'm honored to be here although it's not my own podcast Raw Beef. I'm going to be professional, right now I'm not Carnivore of The MadClan, I'm simply your guest.
The mention of the Madclan seemed to get to Chrysalis, who for the first time in the history of the podcast seems a bit bothered visibly. She brushes it off however and pops her glistening, glossy lips.
Chrysalis: Keep it cute, Carny, keep it cute.
Kieron clears his throat, sensing the tension, at least on Chrys’ side as she keeps her eyes on the screen.
Chrysalis: Okay, but as we always do on our podcast, we want you to let our viewers know who you be, what you’re about, and what’s going on with you. So the floor is yours. Tell everyone what’s up.
Carnivore: Well my name is Daniel Dream, I'm better known as Carnivore but I've gone under many ring names. I'm about competing, winning championships, and I host a podcast. Right now I'm preparing for a match with Splat and preparing for the start of The TWC World tournament.
Chrysalis: KJ, I’ll let you ask our guest the first question. I need a Sprite.
The beautiful rookie stands up and walks out of the room, leaving Kieron and Carnivore to their next interaction. Kieron flicks his mic back down towards his face as he looks down at a notepad sitting next to him on the bed. Chrysalis rejoins the two of them, opening her Sprite and taking a sip while she listens to Kieron’s question.
Kieron Mitchell: So, everyone has their different fight week, and pre-match, rituals. Why don't you walk the fans out there through what goes through your head leading up to a match, and walking down to the ring? Are there certain things you focus on? Is it blind rage? Let's paint the picture for everyone out there.
Carnivore: I usually fit in some training which mostly focuses on strikes then I take a walk through a neighborhood during the week before the match. I listen to music to get into my mindset right before I'm walking down the entrance ramp. Mostly it’s just for nerves and to get into a warrior mindset.
Nodding along with the reply Kieron shoots his glance from the screen back down to the notepad.
Kieron Mitchell: Do tournaments, or title matches, change your routine at all? Or are things generally business as usual regardless of the match and stipulations?
Carnivore: It’s generally business as usual, it helps being in the right mindset regardless of the match and stipulation.
Kieron Mitchell: That makes sense.
Kieron said as he crossed a few things off on his notepad and returned his attention back to the screen.
Kieron Mitchell: So, everyone has the idea of who their biggest competition in the tournament is. Who do you think your biggest competition is? And what makes them a tough out?
Carnivore: My biggest competition in this tournament would have to be Christina King. I think she actually shares something in common with Chrysalis and I that makes us tougher than the rest of the competition...we are survivors from being raised on the streets of Ohio or raised in New York. I don't think anyone in this tournament is going down without a fight but Christina King also has that striking ability that I’ve mastered.
Chrysalis: So one of your toughest opponents will be eliminated in the first round, that works out well for you, right?
She crosses her arms, almost a bit sarcastically.
Carnivore: Do you think I'm an...idiot? If you think I'm going to choose to root for you then you're the idiot. Don’t put me in a position to choose between you and my family, The MadClan, because I will choose my family every time.
Chrysalis: The Madclan is a bunch of….
She stops herself and takes a deep breath.
Chrysalis: Keep it cool, Chrys.
After another deep breath, she looks up at the screen.
Chrysalis: I’mma let you handle this one mostly, K. He’s trying to get me going and I’m not about to let him get under my skin. No rookie mistakes here.
Kieron sets his bowl of popcorn down next to him and clears his throat as he was obviously ready for the fight.
Kieron Mitchell: You know the deal, Chrys, no easy questions. Anyways back to the topic at hand. The MadClan .. what exactly brings you all together? And how does a tournament such as this affect the framework of the team?
Carnivore: Two things bring together the MadClan, madness and caring for each other...caring for a bunch of misfits from the streets when nobody else cared. I haven't spoken to the rest of The MadClan about how the tournament is going to affect this team but we're professionals, we all want to win.
Kieron Mitchell: At the end of the day something like this could be exactly what a team needs, or it could be what breaks them down.
Kieron pointed out. He took a look at Chrysalis for a second. Making sure the steam coming from her ears had stopped, and then focused his attention back to the screen with Carnivore’s picture.
Kieron Mitchell: So I've noticed you're signed on to be working at a few different promotions. Do you ever find that causes your attention to wander?
Carnivore: Ok first of all...The MadClan is a family, families fight. Second of all, my attention is usually on what's immediately ahead of me. I believe I’m really good with keeping my attention on all these different promotions. If you're thinking that I'm going to be overlooking this tournament, let me shoot down that thought right here and now.
Kieron: Defensive. I'm just asking questions here.
Kieron said with a shrug of his shoulders.
Kieron Mitchell: Chrys, let me get you back on this one here. Y'all got thirty seconds to come up with your best answer. Carnivore vs Chrysalis in the finals. What move are you using to put away your opponent? Something we've never seen before? Or you going with old faithful?
Carnivore: Knee to the face, if it's good enough to take down the best then it's good enough to take down Chrysalis.
Chrysalis almost cuts him off as she speaks louder than the soft spoken guest.
Chrysalis: Well I am the best….period! Quote me on that!
She points to her shirt which was meant to take a shot at Carnivore.
Chrysalis: The difference between me and him is he is telling everyone how he’s going to win, so I’m gonna be looking for that knee. I’m not giving my secrets away. I might be a rookie, but I know better than to brag about how I’m gonna handle my work. Next question!
Kieron Mitchell: You know there's no getting out of a question, Chrysalis. No slick answers on this podcast. But I guess we'll just come back to that one down the road. Seeing as how y'all won't be meeting each other in the finals. My ticket is already stamped. So there's only going to be room for one of you.
Kieron jots a few notes down on the notepad next to him as he searches for the next question he wants to go to.
Kieron: Alright, Carnivore. Here is your platform. This is where TWC is going to be paying most attention. What do you have to say to management? And what do you want to tell the rest of the talent on the roster?
Carnivore: The MadClan is taking over and The MadClan is forever. For too long we've been overlooked, underappreciated, and underutilized but have been successful in SPITE of all that. To the rest of the talent on the roster, get out of the way or you and your career will get hurt.
Kieron looks over at Chrysalis.
Kieron Mitchell: You hear that Chrys? Get out of the way or you and your career about to get hurt.
Chrys wraps both arms around herself and hugs her own body while rolling her eyes.
Chrysalis: I’m soooo scared!
Carnivore chuckles quietly as Chrysalis continues.
Chrysalis: All I’ve heard is MadClan this and MadClan that...MadClan needs to worry about the rest of us instead of stroking their own ego. I know that I’m gonna be in the finals, which means Christina King is catching an L. If Mister Dream can wake up from that nightmare, and if you’re wrong about making it to the finals, KJ, I’ll have no problem showing that all it takes is a lil confidence to take out the MadClan single handedly. I DARE you to tell me different, Carny.
Carnivore: You're going to learn to never dare me. If by some miracle you manage to get by Christina King, I will be the one to take you down.
Chrysalis stares at the screen, again clearly bothered by the words from her guest. She has no words for him any longer, and Kieron can sense it as he quickly intervenes, ready to wrap up the tense interview.
Kieron Mitchell: Hope y'all have this same energy with each other when ya meet up backstage in two weeks. Looking forward to seeing how that goes.
Kieron said as he rolled his eyes a bit before turning his attention back to Carnivore.
Kieron Mitchell: Alright Carnivore. Any last words for myself, Chrysalis, TCW, ABC, BBD, the whole east coast family? Here's your chance to really get it into our heads what you're all about, and what to expect from you as the weeks roll on.
Carnivore: Talk That Talk is a fitting podcast name for you two but the time for talking is done. The next time Chrysalis and I interact, she's going to have to shut up and square up.
Chrysalis: Oh bet. I can’t wait for that moment, and if you see me backstage at the first show, keep that same energy like Kieron said.
The rookie stands up and pulls her headphones out.
Chrysalis: Interview over.
She shuts her camera off, leaving both Kieron and Carnivore now the lone two on the screen. Kieron couldn't help but laugh at the abruptness of Chrysalis.
Kieron Mitchell: Ladies and Gentlemen there you have it. Talk That Talk Carnivore edition is a wrap. Carnivore thank you for your time today. Good luck in the TWC tournament. I for one am looking forward to getting the action started. Hope y'all have a good night, and stay healthy out there.
Carnivore: Thank you, Kireron, you're cool. Good luck and good night.
The cameras all shut off, officially wrapping the podcast.
